If you’ve ever attended a BULL Fight, at the end and after the bull has been slaughtered/killed by the matador, they hook the bulls horns up to chains and horses drag the carcass from the arena. Well, the USF Lady Bulls should have been dragged out of the Hartford XL Center way before the end of their Big East game against the UCONN Lady Huskies. After all, this was no BULL FIGHT! UCONN, led this one sided affair by an incredible 47 top 10 score at half time and on their way to a 79 to 42 rout. Four scorers led the team, scoring in double figures and the Huskies absolutely destroyed the Bulls on the backboards by a hard to believe 51 to 10 margin. 10 rebounds over 40 minutes of play? These must have been Baby Bulls or Midget Bulls! The Huskies shot 50% from the field (30 of 60) and were 16 of 22 from the charity stripe. The only poor part of their game was their 3 point shooting. They were a less than adequate 3 for 16 and USF has to be thankful Renee and the girls didn’t further beat them up from long range.
Tonight’s victim is Villanova and tip off is at 6pm. Tuesday’s Big East Final will be against the winner of the Louisville/Pittsburgh game, which also will be tonight, at 8pm.
On another note, great sports minds must think alike or ” Papa Geno” is reading my blog again. Today’s Courant reports that he got after Maya Moore before yesterday’s game and to let her know that she is supposed to be a scorer and not a point guard or player leading this club in assists. SOUND FAMILIAR? Maya needs to shoot and if she does, she will score. That’s why she won her second Big East Player of the Year Award and, come NCAA Tourney time, that is what we need from her.
I’m out of here! Sic Rick
