I looked at the paper this morning and I must admit I was quite surprised when I saw that our UCONN Men were only a 9 1/2 point favorite against the recently hot Seton Hall hoopsters. The loss of Jerome Dyson was big but, with the other 3 guards on this UCONN squad, I have no doubt we can still win and because our inside defense is so strong. Hopefully, “JIMBO” Calhoun will again turn to the 3 guard offense and because, if he doesn’t, covering the spread could be difficult. Who knows, maybe Stanley Robinson will respond favorably after his latest benching. Moreover, Gavin Edwards may fair well against the undersized Pirates. Seriously, the Pirates 5 game winning is soon to be over because this  group of scraggly Jack Sparrows don’t strike fear in the eyes of the #1 team in the country. Therefore, lay he points and hope that two things happen today.  1. Stanley doesn’t single handedly make us regret it.2. We get off to a good start and bury these guys come the second half.

Now, when we face Pitt this coming Monday, that is when Dyson will be most missed and because I doubt Kemba will have as much success driving to the hoop against the PITT big boys. Some would suggest that today’s game could be a problem and because the Huskies may get caught looking ahead to Monday.  I saw bunk to that idea because, with Dyson out, our boys are going to work their butts off and to prove to everyone that they are still a force to be reckoned with. Anyone having watched this squad as close as I have knows that the key is to keep Price, Adrien and of course, Thabeet healthy, as well as on the court. GO HUSKIES!

I’m out of here!  Sic Rick
